Germany will take on Paraguay in a World Cup 2026 round-of-32 match scheduled for Monday evening in Boston.
The match kicks off at 9.30pm UK time and will be shown live on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann said the team had prepared for several possible opponents after the group stage. "I think you’re a bit punished as a group winner," he said. "It will be an all-nighter; we want to have large parts of it prepared so we don’t have to create the match plan in a huge rush on Sunday."
Germany enter the tie without defender Nico Schlotterbeck, who suffered a serious ankle injury. Full-back Nathaniel Brown is expected to be available. Paraguay will be without suspended midfielder Diego Gomez but have Miguel Almiron available after serving a ban.
Manuel Neuer could become Germany’s all-time leading World Cup starter if he plays, while Paraguay have yet to score in five knockout-stage matches at the tournament.
