Hunger Games prequel trailer garners 109 million views in 24 hours

The teaser trailer for Lionsgate's 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' has achieved 109 million global views in its first 24 hours following its debut on November 20, 2025. This marks the studio's second-biggest trailer launch this month, trailing only the 'Michael' biopic teaser. The prequel, set for theatrical release on November 20, 2026, revisits the dystopian world of Panem 24 years before the original story.

Trailer Performance

Lionsgate announced that the teaser for 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping' racked up 109 million views worldwide within 24 hours of its release. This impressive figure positions it as the studio's second most-viewed trailer debut in history, coming just weeks after the 'Michael' teaser, which debuted on November 6, 2025, and amassed 116 million views in its first day. The 'Michael' trailer has since surpassed 300 million views, making it the most-watched for any music biopic.

The surge in interest aligns with ongoing franchise momentum, including the recent opening of 'The Hunger Games: On Stage' in London and strong streaming performance. Lionsgate launched an electronic sell-through bundle on Apple TV, which topped the platform's charts overnight.
