IDEAM forecasts increased rains due to tropical wave 23

The IDEAM reported that tropical wave number 23 will cause a gradual increase in rains across Colombia this week, mainly in the north and west of the country.

According to the statement from the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies, the greatest increase in rainfall will occur on Wednesday, July 8, across much of the national territory. Electric storms are expected in the Caribbean region, except in La Guajira and Atlántico, while humidity will rise in the Pacific region.

For Bogotá, mostly cloudy skies with light drizzles in the afternoons and nights are forecast, along with temperatures between 12 and 21 degrees Celsius. Rains will continue on Thursday, July 9, with a slight decrease, persisting in Orinoquía, Amazonía, Pacífico and departments such as Sucre, Risaralda, Caldas, Quindío and Boyacá.

On Friday, July 10, a general reduction in precipitation is expected, although the west and southern jungles will maintain humid conditions. The IDEAM and the National System of Disaster Risk Management recommended extreme prevention measures against possible landslides, storms and windstorms.
