An Indiana man was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Friday for the murder of his roommate during a dispute over sleeping arrangements last summer.
Draylon Marquise Crutchfield, 26, received the sentence from Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull. A jury had found him guilty of murder last month in the death of 18-year-old Muhammad A. Williams.
The stabbing took place in July 2025 at an apartment complex on Stardale Drive in Fort Wayne. Police said officers found Williams suffering from multiple stab wounds, and he later died at a hospital.
Witnesses told investigators the two men argued about where Crutchfield would sleep. Crutchfield told police that Williams threw the first punch, but a witness said the fight lasted only seconds before the stabbing occurred.
Crutchfield claimed he was holding a knife and warned Williams not to approach before the altercation turned deadly.
