On the second day of the SEA Games 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand, Indonesia added medals across various sports, though it was ultimately overtaken by Vietnam in the provisional standings. By Thursday evening, Indonesia tallied 13 golds, 20 silvers, and 13 bronzes, totaling 46 medals, while Vietnam recorded 14 golds, 8 silvers, and 27 bronzes, totaling 49. Thailand leads with 41 golds, 24 silvers, and 14 bronzes, totaling 79 medals.
Swimming provided the bulk of gold medals. Debutant Jason Donovan Yusuf claimed gold in the men's 50-meter backstroke with a time of 25.36 seconds, beating silver medalist Zheng Wen Quah of Singapore (25.43 seconds) and compatriot I Gede Siman Sudartawa, who took bronze (25.49 seconds). Jason also won gold in the 100-meter backstroke the previous day. "The competition was really exciting, I'm so happy to get the gold medal," Jason said. Meanwhile, Masriani Wolf achieved her third consecutive SEA Games hat-trick gold in the women's 50-meter backstroke with 28.80 seconds, followed by silver for Thailand's Saovanee Boonamphai and bronze for the Philippines' Kayla Noelle Sanchez. "I feel so happy... my target is the Asian Games next year," Masriani stated.
The Indonesian women's 3x3 basketball team made history with their first-ever gold after failing to reach the final in three previous editions. In the exhibition Mixed Martial Arts category, Dwi Ani Retno Wulan secured Indonesia's first gold in the women's traditional -54 kg. From Extreme Water Ski & Wakeboard, golds came from the Water Ski Slalom team and the pair Stevani Maysche Ibo and Subhi in mixed kayak double 200 meters.
In athletics, Diva Renatta Jayadi ended a 22-year wait with gold in women's pole vault, clearing 4.35 meters to break the SEA Games and national record previously at 4.30 meters. Maria Andriani Melabessy contributed bronze with 3.90 meters. "This is Diva's best achievement in SEA Games," said team manager Mustara Musa. These results highlight consistent progress in Indonesian athletics amid fierce medal competition.
