Investigation opened into Estrosi couple over use of city chauffeurs

The Nice prosecutor’s office has opened a preliminary investigation targeting Christian Estrosi and his wife Laura Tenoudji for receiving proceeds of public funds embezzlement. The probe focuses on the couple’s use of city chauffeurs. The alleged facts date back to November 2025.

The investigation has been assigned to the local judicial police. It remains at a cautious stage, as investigators still have only a partial view of the case.

Christian Estrosi, defeated in the March municipal elections by Éric Ciotti, served as mayor of Nice and president of the metropolis until then. He retains the post of delegated president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.

The Nice prosecutor’s office confirmed the opening of proceedings following reports about the couple’s use of municipal vehicles and drivers.
