Jackson Koivun captured his first PGA Tour victory at the 3M Open on Sunday at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota. The 21-year-old closed with a five-under 66 to finish at 25 under par and held off World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
Koivun entered the final round with a three-shot lead after a third-round 61. He extended the advantage early with birdies on the first, fourth and sixth holes.
Scheffler shot 63 and reached 22 under but could not close the gap. Koivun made key par saves and a birdie on the 16th hole to maintain control before draining a 14-foot par putt on the 18th.
"I definitely had some nerves coming down on 18," Koivun said. "I just tried to tone that out and keep playing the golf I knew I could."
The win came in Koivun’s third start as a professional and earned him $1.584 million from the $8.8 million purse along with a two-year PGA Tour exemption.
