Japan has potential to win 2026 World Cup, says veteran Honda

Keisuke Honda, one of Japan's biggest football stars, said the country has the potential to win next year's World Cup. Speaking at a forum in Hong Kong, he expressed optimism about the Samurai Blue reaching at least the semi-finals or even becoming champions. Honda, who earned 90 caps and played in three World Cups, highlighted the team's strong players.

On Tuesday, at the AVCJ Private Equity Forum in Hong Kong, Keisuke Honda shared his optimistic views on the Japanese national team's prospects. 'They have the potential (to) become at least the best four in the World Cup next year, maybe champion,' said Honda, who won 90 Japan caps and played for his country at three World Cups.

Honda is one of Japan's biggest football stars from the first two decades of the millennium. He is also the co-founder of Japan-focused venture capital firm X&KSK.

'There is nothing impossible, and they have a lot of good player(s) now so I hope they are gonna (make it),' added Honda. This statement underscores the potential of the Samurai Blue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, highlighting the abundance of talented players and the belief that nothing is out of reach.
