In Columbia, South Carolina, Jathiyah Muhammad continues to make waves in women's track and field. On February 3, 2026, the league office announced that the Arizona transfer had earned co-SEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors, marking her second such recognition in just four weeks.
Muhammad showcased her prowess at the Razorback Invitational over the weekend. There, she cleared 4.50 meters (14 feet, 9 inches) in the indoor pole vault, surpassing her previous school record and securing victory in a competitive field. This achievement not only broke the program record for the second time in three indoor events this season but also propelled her to fourth place on the NCAA leaderboard for the year. So far, Muhammad has won every one of her three indoor pole vault competitions.
The Gamecocks' success underscores the team's rising profile in SEC track and field. Muhammad's consistent excellence highlights her adaptation since transferring from Arizona, contributing to South Carolina's strong indoor season. Looking ahead, Muhammad and her teammates are set to host the Carolina Classic on February 6 and 7 at the Carolina Indoor Track & Field Facility, where they will aim to build on this momentum.
