Folk singer Joan Baez expressed a desire for younger musicians to use their platforms for political and social commentary in a recent podcast interview.
During an appearance on the podcast Wiser Than Me With Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Baez addressed the silence of many contemporary artists regarding political issues. She noted that a new generation of talented performers has remained quiet amid concerns over the current state of democracy. Baez said she understands their perspective but highlighted the enduring influence of older protest songs like Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are a-Changin’.”
