Kehlani's 'Folded' reaches No. 1 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart

Kehlani has secured her first No. 1 as a lead artist on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart with 'Folded.' The track, released via Atlantic Records, climbed from the runner-up position after topping plays on U.S. mainstream R&B/hip-hop radio stations during the tracking week of Nov. 28 to Dec. 4.

Chart Milestone

Kehlani's 'Folded' has claimed the top spot on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart dated Dec. 13, marking her debut No. 1 as the lead performer. The song rose from No. 2, becoming the most-played track on relevant U.S. radio stations for the week ending Dec. 4, with a 2% increase in plays compared to the previous period, per Luminate data.

This achievement displaces Chris Brown's 'It Depends,' featuring Bryson Tiller, which held the summit for nine weeks before dropping to No. 2 with a 2% decline in plays.

Career Context

Before 'Folded,' Kehlani's highest chart position as a lead artist was No. 2 with 'Beautiful Lies' alongside Yung Bleu in March 2022. She previously reached No. 1 on the chart as a featured artist on Cardi B's 'Ring' for one week in November 2018.

Kehlani maintains a presence elsewhere on the chart, appearing on Cardi B's 'Safe' at No. 8 (down from No. 7, with an 11% drop in plays) and her follow-up 'Out the Window' climbing to No. 30 in its third week, boosted by a 9% rise in plays.

Broader Airplay Impact

'Folded' holds steady at No. 2 on the audience-measured R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for a fifth week, gaining 1% to 21.1 million audience impressions. It slips to No. 8 on Rhythmic Airplay (down 2% in plays) after a prior No. 1 stint in October, while advancing to No. 21 on Adult R&B Airplay (up 13%) and No. 31 on Pop Airplay (up 1%). Overall, it ranks No. 9 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart, adding 2% to reach 36.1 million impressions.
