Kota hospitals face scrutiny after four maternal deaths

Four women have died from postpartum complications at two government hospitals in Kota, prompting a notice from the permanent Lok Adalat with a hearing set for May 22.

Her condition worsened the next day and she died around 12:30 am on May 12 after referral to the Super Speciality Block of New Medical College Hospital.

Two of the six women who had C-sections at New Medical College Hospital on May 4 have died. Another death occurred at JK Lone Hospital on May 9. Two additional women from JK Lone remain in critical condition.

The Rajasthan health department has widened its probe. A specialist team from Jaipur’s SMS Hospital is treating the patients. The drug controller collected 24 samples, with results expected in at least 15 days.
