Large fire in Wiesbaden allotment garden extinguished

A large fire broke out in an allotment garden area in the Mainz-Amöneburg district of Wiesbaden and has since been extinguished.

The fire occurred in the area of Unterer Zwerchweg. The fire department stated that the blaze had been put out. Emergency personnel remained on site however.

One firefighter was lightly injured during the operation. The cause of the fire as well as the extent of property damage remained unclear initially.

Due to strong smoke development the fire department had previously urged residents to keep doors and windows closed and to turn off air conditioning units.
