Los Alcázares residents receive Es-Alert for rambla overflow risk
Murcia's Directorate General of Security and Emergencies has triggered the Es-Alert system to warn Los Alcázares residents of overflow risks in several ramblas. The message urges avoiding vehicle crossings over watercourses and taking extreme precautions. Regional president Fernando López Miras has called for caution following technical inspections.
On October 10, 2025, Murcia's Directorate General of Security and Emergencies sent a message via the Es-Alert system to mobile phones of Los Alcázares residents, a coastal municipality in Murcia. The alert focuses on the "risk of overflow" in the ramblas of Las Colonias, La Maraña, and El Albujón, areas prone to flooding during heavy rain.
The warning text includes specific advice: do not cross "watercourses with your vehicle," exercise extreme caution, avoid unnecessary travel, do not go to basements, and in case of flooding, go to upper floors of buildings. These steps aim to prevent accidents in a zone with a history of inundations.
Regional president Fernando López Miras confirmed the alert's activation on social media. "The regional government sent the alert following an on-site inspection by emergency technicians," he wrote. He added: "Please, caution and prudence," addressing the public directly on the X platform.
This measure is part of emergency protocols for adverse weather in the region, underscoring the role of systems like Es-Alert in swift responses.
