Man falls to death from KICC rooftop in Nairobi

A man in his 20s died after falling from the helipad area of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on Tuesday morning. Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances. The incident briefly halted activities nearby as crowds gathered.

The incident occurred at 11am when the man fell from the upper helipad section of KICC and landed at the ground-floor entrance. Witnesses suggested he jumped, though police have not yet confirmed this.

Central Police Commander Stephene Nyakombo confirmed the death, stating, “We are yet to know more on the suicide incident, including his motive and where he was prior to the fall.” The area around the KICC entrance was cordoned off as forensic teams processed the scene and collected evidence.

The body was moved to the city mortuary for identification and post-mortem examination. With extensive surveillance cameras at KICC, police plan to review footage and interview witnesses to determine how the man accessed the upper floors.

This is not the first such event at the venue. In December 2024, a man jumped from the 10th floor. Earlier that November, a woman named Lucy fell from the 14th floor after expressing suicidal thoughts on social media.
