Man saved bat pup during roof renovation

Dan Öberg, 39, found a live bat pup during a roof renovation outside Klässbol in Värmland. He took care of the animal at home after giving it fluids.

Dan Öberg was renovating a slate roof when he discovered two bat pups under a tile. One was dead and the other was weak, likely due to dehydration in the high heat.

He called wildlife rehab but took the pup home and gave it sugar water and Resorb. The animal perked up, started crawling and hung upside down to sleep.

Öberg has continued care at home because only one facility in Stockholm has permits for bats. The pup eats well, has grown teeth and fur, and weighs about four grams.

He plans to train the pup to fly in a few weeks and is considering names like Lucky, Håkan, Stellan or Batman.
