A 23-year-old man stabbed a 14-year-old girl at the Willow Grove Park Mall in Abington Township, Pennsylvania, after teenage girls mocked his odor on an escalator, authorities said. The incident unfolded Wednesday afternoon around 2 p.m., leaving the girl with non-life-threatening arm wounds. Angel Ortiz faces charges including aggravated assault and harassment.
On Wednesday at about 2 p.m., the 14-year-old girl and her friends rode down an escalator inside the Willow Grove Park Mall, just north of Philadelphia. Angel Ortiz, 23, was behind them when one girl commented on a smell and accused him of it, prompting him to yell back, according to a criminal complaint and surveillance footage reviewed by authorities. He repeatedly said, 'Why don't you hit me?' to the girl, police said. Footage showed Ortiz walking away before the girl followed and struck him on the head, after which he swiped at her with a knife, inflicting lacerations on both arms. He told officers he only meant to make her 'back off.'
