Major League Wrestling locked out Bishop Dyer on July 4 after contract negotiations reached a standstill. Donovan Dijak was allowed to keep the MLW World Tag Team Championship by selecting a new partner during the Fusion episode. Trevor Lee also captured the inaugural MLW Southern Crown Championship that night.
MLW announced that negotiations with Dyer had hit a total standstill over salary and perk demands. The promotion stated Dyer is now locked out until he returns with a reasonable mindset. Dijak was permitted to continue as champion if he found a new partner by the end of the show.
During the July 4 Fusion broadcast on YouTube, Dijak revealed Josh Bishop as his new partner. Bishop attacked Karl Anderson after Anderson defeated Dijak and aligned with the Skyscrapers. MLW now recognizes Dijak and Bishop as the tag team champions.
In the main event, Trevor Lee won the vacant MLW Southern Crown Championship in a Bunkhouse Stampede match. Lee defeated Andrew Everett, Diego Hill, Festus, Ikuro Kwon, Jesus Rodriguez, Josh Bishop, Matthew Justice, Paul Walter Hauser, and The Beastman by hitting the Cave In on Everett.
