Basel Rahmy, CEO of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), affirmed the agency's intensified coordination with stakeholders to provide comprehensive support for innovators and start-ups. He made these remarks during an extended meeting at MSMEDA headquarters with 15 entrepreneurs and innovators. The support encompasses financing, technical assistance, and help with necessary documentation and approvals.
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) held an extended meeting at its headquarters with 15 entrepreneurs, start-up founders, and innovators leading diverse emerging ventures. The gathering was attended by Raafat Abbas, General Supervisor of Development Programmes, Mohamed Medhat, Deputy CEO, and several sector heads.
This meeting is part of a series of ongoing engagements organized by the agency with owners of innovative and start-up projects that rely on advanced technologies in production and the delivery of industrial, agricultural, and training services. Participants represented sectors such as solar energy, agricultural technology, environmental technology, education, recycling, wood manufacturing from waste, and training and employment platforms. It also included winners and participants in the “Startup Power” competition, organized for several years by MSMEDA in cooperation with the Abu Hashima Al-Khair Foundation.
Basel Rahmy explained that these regular meetings aim to identify the needs and challenges facing micro, small, and medium enterprises, allowing the agency to address them in coordination with relevant state entities. This approach supports the development and expansion of these projects, maximizes their economic value, enhances their marketing capabilities locally and internationally, and facilitates their integration into the formal economy to benefit from state laws, incentives, and advantages for entrepreneurship.
During the discussions, Rahmy reviewed the participants’ projects and listened to key challenges, including marketing, patent activation, expansion into global markets, export opportunities, supply chain development, networking with government institutions, access to financing, and establishing small-scale factories as alternatives to fragmented outsourcing. He stressed that MSMEDA’s doors remain open to all citizens and young innovators, in line with directives from Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Chairperson of MSMEDA’s Board.
Rahmy also highlighted MSMEDA’s membership in the ministerial group supporting entrepreneurs, chaired by Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation. Through this, the agency collaborates with ministries to promote stakeholder integration and build a comprehensive entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to providing all forms of support to young entrepreneurs, helping them achieve growth ambitions, regularize legal status, and obtain approvals. He directed sector heads to follow up on financial and technical support mechanisms.
Start-up founders presented their projects, outlined expansion plans, and specified required support from MSMEDA and state institutions to ensure venture sustainability and growth.
