Social services in Örebro have launched an internal investigation following a police report of suspected data intrusion in the case of eight-year-old Elsa. Four social workers have also filed Lex Sarah reports on shortcomings in the handling of the case.
The municipality takes the allegations of data intrusion seriously. Area manager Stefan Nilsson confirms that an internal investigation has been started.
S-politician Carina Toro Hartman is accused of attempting to influence social workers handling the case. She has taken a time-out while the investigation proceeds. Municipal board chairman John Johansson (S) describes the allegations as extremely serious.
The social workers state in the reports that decisions were made on vague grounds and that errors could not be corrected. Elsa has now returned to her parents.
