Spain's preparations for the 2026 World Cup have been hit by another injury to a key winger. Nico Williams sustained a moderate hamstring problem during Athletic Club's match against Valencia, joining Lamine Yamal on the sidelines.
Williams limped off in distress after 36 minutes at San Mamés on May 10 and was replaced by his brother Inaki. An Athletic medical report confirmed he suffered a moderate muscle injury in the hamstring of his left leg. The 23-year-old has already missed time this season with persistent injuries and made only 25 La Liga appearances, scoring six goals and providing three assists.
