Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen sell over 4 million copies

Nintendo has reported that the re-releases of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen achieved combined global sales exceeding 4 million units in their first six weeks on sale. The original Game Boy Advance versions sold 12 million copies in total. The news comes amid some launch controversy over pricing and added features.

Nintendo's financial report details the strong performance of the Game Boy Advance re-releases. Priced at £16.99 or $19.99 each and released outside the Nintendo Switch Online library, the ports measure just 33.4 megabytes in size. They reached over 4 million combined sales across all regions within six weeks of launch, equating to roughly one third of the originals' lifetime total.
