The University of Portland track and field team is set to compete at the Husky Classic, hosted by the University of Washington at Dempsey Indoor on February 13-14. The Pilots will field athletes in multiple events across both days. This follows strong performances in recent indoor meets.
The Portland Pilots men's and women's track and field teams head to Seattle for the Husky Classic on Friday and Saturday, February 13-14, at Dempsey Indoor, hosted by the University of Washington. Live results will be available on PortlandPilots.com.
On Friday, the schedule includes the women's 200 meters at 2:15 p.m. with Aria Cain and Malia Rose Harvey; women's 3000 meters at 2:45 p.m. featuring Lindsey Kaines; men's 3000 meters at 3:45 p.m. with Anthony Giesch, Jacob Hupke, Eliason Kabasenche, Jonas Price, Aaron Rovnak, Giuliano Scasso, and Nathan Stein; women's 5000 meters at 4:30 p.m. with Megan Crum and Clare Herring; and the men's distance medley relay at 6:20 p.m.
Saturday's events begin at 10:00 a.m. with the women's 60-meters preliminary, where top eight times advance, featuring Aria Cain. Other highlights include women's 400 meters at 10:30 a.m. with Malia Rose Harvey; men's mile at 12:30 p.m. with Trey Gannon, Jacob Hupke, Eliason Kabasenche, Jonas Price, Aaron Rovnak, Estanis Ruiz, Giuliano Scasso, and Nathan Stein; women's 800 meters at 1:05 p.m. with Rose Perotin; and men's 800 meters at 1:32 p.m. with Gabriel Morrow, Sam Regez, and Yutaka Roberts.
This outing comes after a successful weekend for the Pilots at two meets. At George Fox Indoor 1, Aria Cain won the women's 60 meters in prelims (7.75) and finals (7.70), while Aaliyah Nero placed 19th in prelims (8.55). At the home-hosted Portland Indoor 2 at Chiles Center, Malia Harvey set a school record in the women's 300 meters with 41.29 to win. Lola Richardson took eighth (44.50 PR), and Nero finished 14th (46.79), ranking fourth all-time at Portland. Giana Atkinson won the women's 600 meters in 1:37.12, a personal best and second in program history. Yutaka Roberts claimed the men's 600 meters in 1:20.85, with Sam Regez second (1:21.66 PR). Madi Callo won the women's 800 meters (2:25.26), and Clare Herring placed third in the mile (5:21.75). The Pilots swept the 4x400-meter relays: women (Malia Harvey, Aria Cain, Clare Herring, Giana Atkinson) in 4:08.75, and men (Austin George, Gabriel Morrow, Sam Regez, Yutaka Roberts) in 3:30.16.
