Range Rover confirms electric grand tourer on new platform

Range Rover has confirmed plans for the GT, an all-electric grand tourer that marks a departure from its SUV lineup. The model will launch on the new EMA platform with a hybrid version to follow.

The announcement came from Wolverhampton, England, where the company showed the GT's minimalist interior. It features dual OLED screens and a standard head-up display while meeting European safety rules for physical controls.

Martin Limpert, managing director of Range Rover, said the GT is the most car-like yet capable model the brand has created. It uses the electrified EMA architecture, which supports multiple powertrains.

Jaguar Land Rover's JEA platform will also support a similar four-door grand tourer from Jaguar called the Type 01, expected later this year. More details on the Range Rover GT, including its exterior design, are scheduled for release later in 2026.
