On Walpurgis Night Thursday April 30, 2026, hundreds, mostly underage teenagers, gathered in Rålambshovsparken, also known as Rålis, on Kungsholmen in central Stockholm. The celebration turned chaotic with firecrackers, rockets, assaults, and high alcohol consumption.
A teenage girl around 15 was hit in the eye by a rocket and taken to hospital, first by police car and later by ambulance. Her condition is unclear. A field assistant was also hit by a rocket but not seriously injured. Several people were assaulted, and an unconscious 17-year-old girl was taken to Maria ungdom.
Two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous assault and endangering others. One threw firecrackers into a crowd, the other fired a rocket at the field assistant. A handful of youths were taken into custody for severe intoxication and sent to care facilities. One person was removed after throwing glass bottles.
Police, security guards, and field assistants were on site from around 20:30. “There have been quite a few incidents... It is risky when people get hurt, but it seems to be calming down now,” says Mats Eriksson, police spokesperson for Stockholm region. Police described the situation as strained and urged parents to pick up their children: “It is very restless, people are running around creating anxiety.”
