Royce Keys, formerly known as Powerhouse Hobbs in AEW, has discussed his move to WWE in a recent interview. He cited personal reasons for the departure and expressed excitement about fulfilling a childhood dream.
Keys left AEW in January after his contract expired following the loss of the AEW World Trios Championship. He debuted in the Royal Rumble and later won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 42 weekend.
Speaking on 107.7 The Bone, Keys said there were many personal reasons behind the decision that he would not discuss publicly. He added that becoming a WWE superstar had always been his dream and that there was no hesitation when the opportunity arose.
Keys also revealed he requested to compete in dark matches every week for nearly three months after signing. He said Triple H approved the plan and that the experience helped him improve through on-the-job training ahead of his television debut.
Keys is scheduled to make his SummerSlam debut next weekend, teaming with LA Knight and Solo Sikoa against Jacob Fatu and the Usos.
