A 58-year-old former school employee in Uppsala has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for gross sexual crimes against 16 primary school-age girls. The offenses occurred at the school from 2023 to spring 2025. The prosecutor is satisfied with the verdict.

A 58-year-old man who worked at a school in Uppsala has been sentenced by the district court to three years and nine months in prison for several gross sexual crimes against primary school-age girls. A total of 16 girls were plaintiffs in the indictment, and the man was convicted on all 16 counts. The offenses took place at the school where he had been employed as a resource, janitor, and leisure pedagogue since 2023, until spring 2025 when he was detained.

Prosecutor Bente Erfäldt expresses satisfaction with the verdict. "My immediate feeling is that I am satisfied with the verdict," she tells TT. She adds: "He has been convicted for all the charged acts. Overall, the district court has shared the prosecutors' assessment of how these acts should be judged. We had a slightly higher penalty demand, but I must still say that the overall picture is that I am satisfied."

The evidence consisted partly of the girls' stories and technical evidence in the form of pictures and films found in the man's possession. The man, who is previously unconvicted and denies the crimes, has a long background in the school world and has worked at other schools before. Erfäldt describes the case as: "It has involved many young plaintiffs." The verdict underscores the seriousness of the crimes against children in a school environment.
