Social Health Authority appoints 23 new assistant directors

The Social Health Authority has appointed 23 new assistant directors to bolster its operations across Kenya. These appointments follow a competitive recruitment process and aim to enhance healthcare access for all citizens. The move comes shortly after naming other senior positions within the organization.

On Friday, October 31, 2025, the Social Health Authority (SHA) announced the appointment of 23 new assistant directors nationwide. The decision, detailed in a statement by board chairperson Abdi Mohamed, follows a competitive recruitment drive that began on July 29, 2025. The hires are intended to strengthen the authority's team, improve service delivery, and ensure quality healthcare access for all Kenyans.

Mohamed emphasized the strategic importance of these additions: “This expansion of the senior management team injects a wealth of experience into the Authority’s ranks. These new leaders are crucial for enhancing operational capacity across all Directorates as SHA scales up to achieve its core mandate.”

The appointees span various directorates. In Legal Services, Rose Nakhungu Nandasaba takes the role. Adow Osman Ahmed and Fardoda Abdi Ali, along with Gilbert Mogambi Osoro, join Registration and Compliance. Moindi Kevin Omai leads Supply Chain Management.

For Planning and Linkages, Beatrice Chengat Kimale and Douglas Odhiambo Owino are appointed. Benefits Management sees Mercy Kamene Mutua and James Letangule. Samira Swaleh and Kennedy Kirichu Ndegwa handle Fund Management.

In Finance and Accounts, Mohammed Elmi and Irene Jepng’etich Rono are named. Administration welcomes Callista Kendi Omwenga and Timothy Musyoka Malusi. Human Resource Management and Customer Experiences include Maurreen Cherwon, Khadija Ali Juma, and Bria Muriithi Mugambi.

Julius Kiamba Muli is appointed to Information and Communication Technology, Julia Ouko to Provider Management, and James Tama and Samson Nthei to Internal Audit.

These appointments follow the board's earlier naming of 16 new Deputy Directors and 9 Principal Claims Management Officers on October 9, 2025, signaling ongoing efforts to build SHA's leadership.
