Spain sends emergency aid to Venezuela after earthquakes

The Spanish government has mobilized military personnel and humanitarian aid following the earthquakes that struck Venezuela. The response includes UME personnel and support from AECID.

Spain has activated its response after the two earthquakes recorded in Venezuela. The government has sent a plane with 57 members of the Military Emergency Unit, two engineers and eight canine units from the Morón de la Frontera base.

Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares offered assistance through AECID and the UME during talks with his Venezuelan counterpart. The flight from Torrejón is scheduled for nine at night and includes first aid supplies.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia expressed their solidarity with the Venezuelan people. President Pedro Sánchez held a call with President Delcy Rodríguez and conveyed Spain's support.

A Spanish citizen of Basque origin remains missing. Caracas airport is closed and the Spanish embassy in Venezuela is coordinating consular assistance.
