State of Decay 3 will release in 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC. The game will also arrive on Game Pass.
A new trailer for the co-op survival game was shown during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7. The footage highlighted a larger open world where players build communities and survive together. State of Decay 3 was first announced in July 2020. A 2024 trailer featured comments from studio head Philip Holt on shared world elements and independent player boundaries. In April 2026, Holt stated that the 2020 reveal was based on a concept and that zombie animals shown then will not appear in the final game. The latest trailer marks the first gameplay footage after years of development at Undead Labs.
