Stellantis announces 13 billion dollar investment in the US

The parent company of Opel, Stellantis, has announced a 13 billion dollar investment in the United States. Over the next four years, it will fund five new models and create 5,000 jobs in the Midwest. CEO Antonio Filosa called it the largest investment in the company's history.

Stellantis, the French-Italian-American carmaker encompassing brands like Opel, Fiat, and Peugeot, plans a major investment in North America. The 13 billion dollars will be used over the next four years to develop five new models and create 5,000 new jobs in Midwest US factories. The company announced this.

CEO Antonio Filosa highlighted the strategic importance: "Acceleration of growth in the US has top priority." He added: "Success in America is not only good for Stellantis in the US – it makes us stronger everywhere." The announcement led to a roughly two percent rise in the US-listed Stellantis shares in after-hours trading.

In North America, Stellantis is present with the brands Chrysler, Dodge, and Ram. Sales in the past third quarter increased by 35 percent to 403,000 vehicles, partly due to the new Ram 1500 pickup with an eight-cylinder combustion engine.

This optimism contrasts with challenges in Europe. In July, Stellantis reported a billion-dollar loss for the first half of 2025, which the company partly attributed to US tariff policy. At the end of September, it announced production halts in several European factories, including the Opel plant in Eisenach, Thuringia, as well as in France, Spain, Poland, and Italy.
