Syekh ali jaber offers alternative practice to tahajud prayer

Syekh Ali Jaber provides a solution for Muslims struggling to wake for Tahajud prayer at midnight. He recommends an alternative prayer taught by Prophet Muhammad SAW to have wishes granted. This practice can be done briefly upon waking before returning to sleep.

In Islamic tradition, midnight is considered a time of great blessing, when many Muslims strive to perform Tahajud prayer. This sunnah worship holds immense virtue for elevating prayers and seeking the fulfillment of wishes from Allah SWT, as mentioned in the Qur'an, Surah Al-Isra verse 79: “And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it may be that your Lord will raise you to a praised station.” (QS. Al-Isra, 17:79).

However, not everyone can manage it due to physical factors, health, or fatigue. The late Syekh Ali Jaber understood this and offered an alternative practice. "This is one practice before going back to sleep," said Syekh Ali Jaber in a video on his official YouTube channel, quoted Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

He explained that Tahajud prayer shakes the heavens in the last third of the night, but for those unable to perform it, there is a substitute prayer that Prophet Muhammad SAW used to recite upon waking at night. "Such an extraordinary practice," said Syekh Ali.

The prayer reads: “Laa ilaaha illallah wahdahu la syarikalah lahul mulku walahul hamdu wa huwa alaa kulli syai’in qadir. Subhanallah walhamdulillah wala ilaha illallah wallahu akbar. Wa laa haula wa laa quwwata illa billah Allahumaghfirli.” This practice ensures that a midnight awakening is not wasted without worship, allowing wishes to be granted promptly.
