Three officers injured in Al-Shabaab attack on SOG camp in Mandera

Three police officers were injured when suspected Al-Shabaab militants attacked a Special Operations Group camp in Fino, Mandera County, on Friday night.

The attackers used rocket-propelled grenades and PKM machine guns in the assault on the elite unit's base. Officers responded with a 25-minute firefight that forced the militants to retreat.

The injured officers received medical treatment while security forces began a manhunt. Additional personnel were deployed to the area near the Kenya-Somalia border.

This marks the second such incident in the region in recent weeks. On Wednesday, officers repelled an attack on a Quick Response Unit camp in the same sub-county.
