Tottenham reject £46m offer from Newcastle for Bergvall

Tottenham Hotspur have turned down a bid worth around £46 million from Newcastle United for midfielder Lucas Bergvall.

The offer exceeded previous approaches from Nottingham Forest for the 20-year-old Sweden international. Tottenham rejected the proposal even as interest in Bergvall continues to grow from clubs in England and Europe.

Bergvall remains under contract until June 2031 but has told the club he would prefer to leave this summer. He joined Tottenham from Djurgarden in 2024 for approximately £8.5 million and has made 78 appearances across all competitions.

Newcastle have been reshaping their midfield after selling Sandro Tonali to Tottenham earlier this summer. The club also missed out on Switzerland international Johan Manzambi, who joined Aston Villa instead.

Tottenham have added to their own midfield this window with the £85 million signing of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and the acquisition of Tonali in a deal worth up to £100 million.
