A truck and two passenger cars collided on E6 west of Trelleborg on Wednesday afternoon, leaving a woman in her mid-50s with serious injuries and two others with minor ones. The truck driver has been arrested on suspicion of traffic offenses after reportedly crossing a wire barrier. The road remains closed in both directions until Thursday morning.
The accident occurred at 3:51 p.m. on E6 at Maglarp roundabout west of Trelleborg. According to police and Region Skåne, three people were injured: a woman in her mid-50s seriously, with the other two sustaining minor injuries. All three were taken to hospital.
The truck driver has been arrested and is suspected of traffic offenses. Witness accounts suggest the truck crossed a wire barrier and ended up on the wrong side of the road, colliding with the two passenger cars.
“There are witness statements that he drove over a wire fence,” police spokesperson Leif Fransson told Sydsvenskan.
E6 is closed in both directions due to the accident and rescue operations. According to Trafikverket's forecast, the road will not reopen until 8 a.m. on Thursday morning. No further details on the victims' conditions or the exact cause have been released, but police are investigating the incident.
