Workers removed President Donald Trump's name from the Kennedy Center in Washington on Saturday following a court order. The action ended efforts to rebrand the landmark.
President Donald Trump’s name was removed from the facade of the Kennedy Center on Saturday. Matthew Floca, the center’s chief operating officer and executive director, confirmed in a court filing that crews had taken down all physical signage renaming the institution after Trump.
The removal followed a late May ruling by U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper that the rebranding violated federal law. Cooper also blocked plans to close the center for renovations.
Trump criticized the decision on Truth Social, writing that Judge Cooper should be ashamed and that he had no interest in continuing without full control.
Officials had already removed online references to Trump and updated employee materials before the physical changes took place.
