Veracruz prosecutors confirm death of journalist Roxana Guzmán

The Veracruz Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Friday, July 3, that the remains found belong to journalist Roxana Berenice Guzmán, who was kidnapped on June 2.

Forensic and expert studies allowed the scientific identification of the remains found on a property. The investigation file continues for the crime of qualified intentional homicide.

The Prosecutor's Office reported that eight arrest warrants were executed against alleged members of a criminal group. Those detained include Javier Iván ‘N’, alias ‘Delta 1’; José del Carmen ‘N’, alias ‘Delta 7’; Luis Arturo ‘N’, alias ‘Delta 11’ or ‘El Pelón’; and Karen Monserrat ‘N’, alias ‘La Hiena’.

In addition, three officers from the Municipal Police of Ixhuatlán del Sureste were detained for their alleged collaboration in the deprivation of the journalist's liberty and for providing logistical support to the criminal group.
