Westerberg couple lacks water public transport in Gräsö archipelago

Staffan and Anna-Katti Westerberg who have lived on Ormön since 1980 now need help to stay. They request water public transport but Region Uppsala says no for now.

The couple moved into the house on Ormön in 1980 and have managed on their own in the Gräsö archipelago for nearly 50 years. Staffan Westerberg who was born in the area has suffered three strokes and can no longer operate a boat. Anna-Katti Westerberg finds it too heavy to handle all the trips alone.

They want some form of water public transport at the top of their wish list. Region Uppsala has so far rejected the idea citing that transport cannot reach every location.

Regional councillor Jenny Lundström however opens for a review of the traffic supply program where water public transport may be included. She urges island residents to engage in dialogue with both the region and Östhammars Municipality.
