A wolf was shot in Vaggeryd municipality during the night to Friday in an ongoing sheep attack on a farm.
A hunter who was out hunting wild boar witnessed the attack on Friday night. He first tried to scare the wolf away but shot it when that failed.
The wolf was an adult female shot in a sheep pen on the same farm where two sheep were killed the previous night. The county administrative board in Jönköping has inspected the site.
The board considers the shooting to have followed Section 28 of the Hunting Ordinance and will not hand the matter over to police. The wolf will now be sent to the National Veterinary Institute for DNA analysis to determine its origin.
