Yasiin Bey announces reissue of The Ecstatic album

Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, is reissuing his 2009 album The Ecstatic on vinyl and streaming. The project returns via a new partnership with Rhymesayers Entertainment and Qobuz.

The reissue is set for August 14. It will feature a 2xLP edition that includes a 120-page hardcover book along with a 7-inch single of bonus tracks titled “The Size” and “The Tournament.”

Originally released on Downtown Records, the album had been out of print and unavailable on most streaming services. Production credits include contributions from Madlib, Oh No, and the late J Dilla.

The Qobuz streaming deal emphasizes high-fidelity audio and improved artist payments. The vinyl and book package marks Bey’s first project with the Minneapolis-based Rhymesayers Entertainment label.
