A report by road safety organisation Crashfree India states that lack of awareness about legal rights leaves thousands of road crash victims in India without compensation, despite over ₹96,000 crore in claims pending before Motor Accident Claims Tribunals (MACTs). The report cites a 2021 World Bank study finding 70% of low-income households and 63% of high-income households unaware of compensation provisions after crashes.
