The Chinese government has appointed Ambassador Yan Wenbin as its special representative on Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) affairs and national coordinator to this regional mechanism. The designation was announced in Beijing on January 14. This step aims to bolster China's engagement in the SCO.
