PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) states that train tickets for the 2026 Lebaran transport period, running from March 11 to April 1, remain significantly available. As of Saturday, February 21, 2026, KAI data shows 1.58 million tickets sold, or 40.87 percent of the total 3,872,810 seats provided. Thus, about 2.2 million seats, or 59 percent, are still bookable.
KAI Vice President Corporate Communication Anne Purba explains that the peak mudik flow is expected on March 23, 2026, with 114,113 tickets sold, followed by March 24 with 112,758 tickets. Popular routes include KA Airlangga from Pasar Senen to Surabaya Pasarturi and KA Serayu from Pasar Senen to Purwokerto. Anne adds, “From March 14 to 29, 2026, a 30 percent tariff incentive is available as part of the government's policy to support mobility during Lebaran.”
Regionally, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta reports that as of Sunday, February 22, 2026, 480,000 tickets have been sold in that area, with around 98,000 seats remaining for departures from Gambir and Pasar Senen stations. Specific availability includes 31,587 seats on March 11, 19,060 on March 12, and over 20,000 per day from March 22 to April 1. KAI Daop 1 Jakarta's Humas Manager Franoto Wibowo states that this data is dynamic and may change with bookings or cancellations.
To support passengers, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta operates 16 additional trips, consisting of 10 from Gambir and 6 from Pasar Senen, bringing the total to 84 long-distance train trips per day. The government's stimulus of a 30 percent cut for commercial economy trains is expected to facilitate safe and affordable transport. KAI urges bookings through official channels like the Access by KAI app to avoid scams, and to consider alternatives if preferred dates are full.
