In his fifth State of the Nation Address on July 27, 2026, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized accountability for the flood control corruption scandal and announced measures for tax and energy relief.
Marcos stated that the Ombudsman would soon file cases against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, his cousin, over the scandal. "Hindi ako Pangulo ng aking pamilya," he said. Nearly P25 billion has been recovered or frozen from the accused, with P800 million returned to the Treasury.
He also called on Congress to amend the EPIRA law to stop power firms from passing systems loss charges to consumers. In addition, he proposed a three-part tax relief package for the middle class and small businesses.
He mentioned programs such as P20-per-kilo rice and aid for those affected by the Middle East conflict. The SONA was held at the House of Representatives in Manila.
