Paul McCartney has released two rare tracks from Wings ahead of the soundtrack for the documentary Man on the Run. The album features previously unheard material from his post-Beatles era. The film and soundtrack are set for release on February 27, 2026.
The upcoming documentary Man on the Run, directed by award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville, explores Paul McCartney's career after the Beatles, focusing on how he built Wings from scratch in the 1970s. The film includes interviews with McCartney, his late wife Linda, daughters Mary and Stella, Wings band members, Sean Ono Lennon, Mick Jagger, and Chrissie Hynde. In the trailer, McCartney reflects: “When we started Wings, it was about freedom. We felt we’d finally arrived.”
Accompanying the film is the 12-track soundtrack Man on the Run: Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack, due out on February 27, 2026—the same day the movie premieres on Prime Video following a limited theatrical run starting February 19. The album includes three previously unreleased songs: a demo of the 1976 chart-topper “Silly Love Songs,” “Gotta Sing Gotta Dance” from the 1973 TV special The James Paul McCartney, and a rough mix of “Arrow Through Me” from 1979's Back to the Egg.
Currently streaming exclusively on Amazon Music are the rough mix of “Arrow Through Me”—a funky rock ballad originally featuring synths and horns reminiscent of Stevie Wonder—and a live “Rockshow” version of “Live and Let Die” from the mid-1970s, captured for the 1980 concert film Rockshow. In the live track, Linda McCartney introduces it as “about a British secret agent, and it’s full of foreign intrigue,” before it builds to the explosive arrangement fans know from 1973. The guitar solo is by Jimmy McCulloch, who died in 1979.
Neville explains the film's focus: “When people talk about the biggest acts of the 1970s, the list rarely includes Paul McCartney... Not because he wasn't big—he was undeniably one of the biggest acts of the decade—but because of what he'd already done.” He adds: “In my film, Man on the Run, I wanted to look at Paul's impossible run from that long shadow of the Beatles.”
The soundtrack will be available in multiple formats, including digital, CD, black vinyl, New York taxi yellow vinyl via Third Man Records, and tangerine peel orange vinyl via Amazon. All vinyl editions include a movie poster designed by Aubrey “Po” Powell of Hipgnosis, who created artwork for eight Wings albums.
