The 2026 MAAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship took place on Sunday afternoon at The Armory in New York. Sacred Heart University dominated the competition, securing the win with 114 points. This marked the program's inaugural MAAC indoor title, highlighted by consistent results in sprints and relays.
Early in the meet, Gavin Alvarez of Sacred Heart won gold in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.72 seconds. Teammate Colin Brown followed closely, taking silver in 21.73 seconds for a one-two finish. The Pioneers added a silver in the 60-meter hurdles and bronze in the 60-meter dash. They also earned second place in the 4x400-meter relay, which helped lock in their lead.
Mount St. Mary's University finished second with 108 points, excelling in several track events. They claimed gold in the 60-meter hurdles, 800-meter run, 400-meter dash, and 60-meter dash, plus bronze in the triple jump. Iona University placed third with 101 points, relying on their distance strengths. The Gaels controlled the mile and 3,000-meter events, with additional points from the 5,000 meters and distance relays.
Notable achievements included two MAAC Championship records set by Saint Peter's University athletes. Cashieve Blair ran the 400-meter dash in 47.02 seconds, breaking the previous mark of 47.91 set by Ben Boyd of Monmouth. Blair then anchored the 4x400-meter relay team—F. Owolabi, C. Blair, A. Peck-Wekunda, and B. Yeager—to a record time of 3:14.54, surpassing Manhattan's prior best of 3:14.88.
Other event winners were Tristan Coles in the mile (4:09.28), Abdulazeez Iyiola in the 60-meter hurdles (8.23 seconds), Amari Mathis in the 60-meter dash (6.74 seconds), Brian Yeager in the 800 meters (1:50.64), Matt Rankin in the 3,000 meters (8:13.72), Damere Lassiter in the shot put (16.08 meters), and Jiles Addison in the triple jump (14.50 meters).
