1Password launches Claude integration for secure credential access

1Password announced a new integration with Anthropic's Claude AI on July 16 that lets the agent use stored passwords without seeing them. The feature uses a zero-exposure framework requiring biometric approval for each login.

The integration, called 1Password for Claude, enables agents to handle tasks like logging into sites such as Audible and Stripe. Passwords and one-time codes are injected through a secure channel and never reach the AI model or Anthropic's systems.

Users must approve each access via biometric verification. 1Password also introduced Agentic Mode, which locks down the extension when an agent is active and limits it to only pre-approved credentials for the current task.

The feature is available now on Mac for business, family and individual plans. It requires the 1Password and Claude desktop apps plus browser extensions. Future updates will add support for payment cards and identity details.
