The women's singles figure skating short program at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics begins on Tuesday, February 16, at the Milano Ice Skating Arena in Milan. South Korea's representatives, Shin Ji-a (17) and Lee Hae-in (20), are scheduled to compete.
Shin Ji-a won the national team trials in January and gained her first Olympic experience in the team event on February 6 at the Milano Ice Skating Arena. Now, the 17-year-old makes her individual debut in her first senior season. She earned four consecutive silver medals at the World Junior Championships from 2022 to 2025 and a silver at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics. Her junior personal best total score is 212.43, set at the 2024 World Junior Championships. This season's best marks are 74.47 in the short program, 133.98 in the free skate, and 208.45 total at the Nebelhorn Trophy in September 2025.
Lee Hae-in, who finished as runner-up to Shin in the trials, also debuts at the Olympics. The 20-year-old is the 2023 world silver medalist and 2023 Four Continents champion, with a personal best total of 225.47. Her season-best scores are 67.06 in the short program, 132.06 in the free skate, and 196.84 total.
On the same day, the women's curling round-robin continues at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium in Cortina d'Ampezzo, 260 kilometers northeast of Milan, where South Korea (Gim Eun-ji's team) faces Switzerland (Silvana Tirinzoni's team). Gim's team ranks No. 3 in World Curling's team rankings, just behind Switzerland.
