The Wake Forest track and field team wrapped up the first day of the Darius Dixon Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia, on February 13, 2026. Several athletes achieved strong placements across multiple events. Junior Seren Rodgers set a personal best in the women's 60m hurdles.
The Wake Forest University track and field squad participated in the opening day of the Darius Dixon Invitational, held at the Liberty University facility in Lynchburg, Virginia. Competition took place on Friday afternoon, with athletes competing in various indoor events.
In men's events, Paul Specht led with a first-place finish in the mile, clocking 3:54.60. He also placed seventh in the 800m with a time of 1:49.34. Bryce Gilmore secured fifth in the mile (3:59.00), fourth in the 3000m (7:50.89), and tenth in the 5000m (13:51.24). Ryan Harper came in fifth in the 400m (48.21), while Max Marino finished sixth in the 600m (1:20.96). Wes Shipsey placed tenth in the 800m (1:50.61).
On the women's side, Elizabeth Whaley won the mile in 4:36.56, and Angelina Perez took first in the 5000m with 15:41.86; Perez also placed seventh in the mile (4:41.24). Amy Weybrecht earned second in the 1000m (2:46.45), followed by Victoria Rodriguez in fourth (2:47.24). Natalia Issler finished fourth in the 800m (2:05.42). Seren Rodgers had a standout performance, placing fourth in the 60m (7.86) and fourth in the 60m hurdles with a personal-best 8.63 seconds. She also competed in the high jump (tenth, 1.65m), long jump (sixth, 5.89m), and pentathlon (third, 3,971 points). Annie Thorkell placed eighth in the long jump (5.85m) and third in the triple jump (12.05m).
The team looks ahead to the next event on February 20.
