Amhara Region surpasses honey production target

The Amhara Region produced 36,665 tons of honey in the 2018 budget year, exceeding the target of 33,333 tons.

Dr. Gashaw Muche, head of the regional livestock and fisheries development bureau, told Fana Media Corporation that the development prosperity program created momentum in beekeeping.

Supply of modern hives and close monitoring of pre-production activities contributed to the result. Efforts are also underway to build market linkages to benefit beekeepers.
